Three questions for a good life & the I-O questions

I think it’s so important to also tell other people how they contribute to your life, how they make a difference for your life. And this also helps me for my life and for my well-being. – Julia Kalenberg, SFP #81

Ask yourself everyday the I-O questions:

– ‘What have I done that I am really happy with?’ Tap on your own shoulder.
– ‘What has another person done that made a difference in your life’ And have you also told them?

This challenge is given to us by Julia Kalenberg in episode 81 “Useful Solution-Focused Habits and Tools: Refocusing in Everyday Life” of the SIMPLY FOCUS podcast. You can listen to the full podcast here >>. For the challenge of the week please go to minute 39:09.

The I-O questions are inspired by Luc Isebaert`s ‘3 Questions for a Good life’:

– What did I do today that made me feel happy or grateful?
– What did someone else do today that made me feel happy or grateful and how did I react?
– What did I see, feel, smell or taste today that made me feel happy or grateful?.

In episode #58 of the SIMPLY FOCUS podcast we explored these three questions with Sébastien Vernieuwe from the Korzybski Institute. Check it out and listen to episode #58 here >>.

Luc Isebaert was a close friend of Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg and had a significant influence on the later developments of the Solution Focused approach. He was widely recognised as an international authority on alcohol dependency, he headed the Department of Psychiatry and Psychosomatics at St. John’s Hospital (Bruges, Belgium) for many years and made a significant contribution to the research on efficacy of SFBT for addiction treatment. Luc was the founding Director of the Kozybski Institute and the developer of the Bruges Model.  He was also one of the original Founding Members of the European Brief Therapy Association. Luc passed away this year on September 30. Read “In Memory of Luc Isebaert” that Yvonne Dolan wrote here >>. Thank you for everything, dear Luc ❤️ R.I.P.
