That reminds me of the following story

So, with a formula you are instructed or expected to know it exactly as it is. With a story you are invited to hear as it appeals to you.“ – Hannes Couvreur

In your conversations today, at least three times, when you say something, begin with “And that reminds me of the following story…”. What differences does that make in your interactions?

In episode 26 of the SIMPLY FOCUS podcast we celebrated “Half a Year SIMPLY FOCUS Podcast” with Hannes Couvreur’s “That reminds me of the following story“. We love Hanne’s idea and format of “That reminds me of the following story” and experienced a lot of wonderful moments along our journey, sitting together (alone or with friends) around a campfire and sharing stories with this one rule: Whatever you say, always begin with “AND that reminds me of the following story…”.

If you became curious to learn more about it, we highly recommend to listen to the first 10 minutes of this podcast, where Hannes describes how this idea unfolded, the role Gregory Bateson played in it, and how this method resonates with the heart of the Solution Focused community. You might also get some ideas of where to use this method 🙂
