“Suppose […] tomorrow […] you stepped into a land where […], for whatever reason, [you] were happier than you’ve ever been before. What’s the first thing you will notice? In order to answer that question, you have to jump into a future conversation. You have to get into a certain state of mind to do that and that state of mind is presuppositional, that state of mind has emotions attached to it, that state of mind is optimistic, that state of mind is very positive. And people experience a benefit when they answer questions like that.”– Elliott Connie
Today we invite you to a two steps experiment:
Step 1: Think of the most beautiful, utopic world you’d like to live in. If you could design the world in the most wonderful, beautiful ways: Think of what that would look like and with intention go look for it, because you likely already live in a world that has most of what you would want in your utopia anyway. Spend more of your time looking for your utopia.
Step 2: Do something every day to or for someone else that makes their utopia easier for them to see.
Elliott Connie shared this challenge with us in episode 24 “Being in Love with Love” of the SIMPLY FOCUS podcast. We met Elliott at the SF World Conference in Frankfurt and the again in January in Fort Worth, and are very much looking forward to meeting him again at his 2019 Solution Focused University Conference that will take place from February 7-9, 2019, in Taos. His book “The Solution Focused Marriage” and especially the list exercises in there inspired many great conversations we had while driving. And we really love his generosity and his sharing of his SF practice.
