SFP 30 - Episode 30: Solution Focused Leadership: Everyday interactions that make a difference with Dominik Godat

by Elfie Czerny & Dominik Godat | Simply Focus Podcast | 34:00

“So with Solution Focus it really shifted very fast, because I started asking them for their preferred future, and for what works already and things like that and within a much shorter period of time they went out and they started doing things. And I always left those conversations without having things to do for them, without taking their responsibility.”

„For me suddenly it became clear, that’s what I always wanted as a leader too that the whole potential of those people is being used. And it’s so much easier to use the potential of all the people, the ideas that they have, all the resource they have, if you have an approach like that.“

And I think especially nowadays in this fast moving world, it’s really important that wherever you are, that you feel well in what you do (…) and if you can have an approach where you can feel better, where you can realize that you have a strong team, that they all have a lot of resources (…) that you can really tackle all the things that you encounter together with a productive, fast, and simple approach.

„Take an interactional perspective (…) Then it’s not the other person with his or her structure that is not changeable, but just the interaction that you can easily change. And a s soon as you change the interaction a lot of things around change really fast.”
Dominik Godat

Thank you Dominik for sharing those ideas. You gave me a lot to think about those short conversations, 2 minutes here and there. That makes so much sense! I also love those differences between leadership and coaching.

I hope that you interview Elfie soon!
